Poincaré Beams at the Tight Focus: Inseparability, Radial Spin Hall Effect, and Reverse Energy Flow

چکیده
The family of Poincaré beams has three parameters, including two real-valued angular which specify a definite polarization state on the sphere, and third integer parameter n specifying beam singularity order. We show theoretically through numerical simulation that, while being inseparable not allowing for separation orbital degrees freedom in general case, display remarkable properties when tightly focused. find that at = 2, reverse energy flow occurs near optical axis, is mathematically expressed as negative projection Poynting vector. also reveal given certain parameters beams, rotates around axis due to spin–orbital conversion. radial Hall effect tight focus on-axis components spin momentum vector have different signs different-radius circles centered focal spot center.

Photonic spin Hall effect at metasurfaces.
The spin Hall effect (SHE) of light is very weak because of the extremely small photon momentum and spin-orbit interaction. Here, we report a strong photonic SHE resulting in a measured large splitting of polarized light at metasurfaces. The rapidly varying phase discontinuities along a metasurface, breaking the axial symmetry of the system, enable the direct observation of large transverse mot...
متن کاملThe Quantum Spin Hall Effect
Most quantum states of condensed matter are classified by the symmetries they break. For example, crystalline solids break translational symmetry, and ferromagnets break rotational symmetry. By contrast, topological states of matter evade traditional symmetrybreaking classification schemes, and they signal the existence of a fundamentally different organizational principle of quantum matter. Th...

A remarkable analogy is established between the well-known spin Hall effect and the polarization dependence of Rayleigh scattering of light in microcavities. This dependence results from the strong spin effect in elastic scattering of exciton polaritons: if the initial polariton state has a zero spin and is characterized by some linear polarization, the scattered polaritons become strongly spin...
متن کامل0 Spin - Charge Separation and the Spin Quantum Hall Effect
We use quantum field theory methods to study the network model for the spin quantum hall transition. When the couplings are fine tuned in a certain way, the spin and charge degrees of freedom, corresponding to the supercurrent algebras su(2)0 and osp(2|2)−2 respectively, completely decouple. This simpler theory is exactly solvable and some critical exponents are computed and shown to agree with...

We use quantum field theory methods to study the network model for the spin quantum Hall transition. When the couplings are fine tuned in a certain way, the spin and charge degrees of freedom, corresponding to the supercurrent algebras su(2)0 and osp(2|2)−2 respectively, decouple in the renormalization group flow. The infrared fixed point of this simpler theory is the coset osp(4|4)1/su(2)0 whi...
